Florence E. Smith Senior Services
The Florence E. Smith Senior Service Program is housed in the Florence E. Smith Community Center,
a community-based agency in Corona, Queens, that provides a comprehensive range of services to the
elderly to help them remain active members in the community. The senior program is dedicated to rendering
service to the aging population according to needs. The idea of the center is to enhance the individual self-esteem
of its members and foster a greater sense of independence and self-reliance for them.They provide the following services
to persons 60 years of age or older:
Nutritious hot lunch- Homebound meals- Cultural trips - Recreation activities-Cultural activities - Specialized small groups -
Educational programs and Informal socialization & friend listening - Transportation- Information & Referrals - Advocacy and
Case management.
Tools 4 Schools
Tools 4 Schools redistributes used office furniture, computers and supplies from businesses to address the pervasive needs
of cash-strapped public schools, and community based non-profits around New York City.
